Snowed In!

Here are some pictures of the snow from last week.   School was closed for 3 days as it was not safe to go to school with the snow and ice on the roads.

A lot of the students enjoyed sledding, snowboarding and having fun in the snow!

Snow Day

Today the students had an early release due to the weather.  It looks like the weather conditions will get worse during the next few days.  There may not be any school tomorrow for us but we are not sure until we have confirmation from the Superintendent of Union County Public Schools.

In the meantime, I know the Superstars are probably back home getting warm or even playing in the snow!

Carolina Panthers Flipagram!

American Football is a popular sport here in the USA. Our NFL Football team here are the 'Carolina Panthers'. Before their big game against the San Francisco 49ers last month, the whole school got behind the team and wore Panthers attire to show our support. The local news even came to film the students! Whether you were a supporter or not it was great to see everyone rallying behind our local team!

Trip to the Raptor Center

Last Wednesday we had a Second Grade trip to the Raptor Center. The students learned lots of interesting information about the falcons, owls and other birds they had at the center. Students were introduced to the birds and enjoyed listening to the presentation. After the presentation the Raptor Center had a trail that you could follow to see all the other birds at the center. Superstars Message to Mr Webb and Room 5

We made a special video for our friends from Room 5 Melville Intermediate School.  The students from Room 5 took the time to watch our videos and posted comments.  

In class, Ms. Lologa showed us the comments and we all read them.  We were so excited to get feedback from students in New Zealand!

New Zealand Non Fiction Expert Projects

Over the past month the class have been putting together a non fiction book about New Zealand. The students learned about landforms, school, climate, native birds, symbols to sports in New Zealand.

 After that the students chose what sections they would like to include in their books. The students wrote each section using information from Ms. Lologa, books, and the internet.

 It was a long process but the students managed to complete their books. They all did such a fabulous job and have worked very very hard on these books. To share what they have written, the class have chosen their 'best section' that they will read.
