What is your Cultural Heritage?

Today we created a graph to show all the cultural heritage backgrounds of our class. We found out that a lot of us have more than one culture. We also learned that half the class had German heritage. The class enjoyed the activity and it was really great to get to know more about who we are and our cultural backgrounds.
Here is the graph of our cultures in our class. What a multicultural class we have!

Watch our video to see the students share their cultural backgrounds!!!

  1. Can I ask a question, because I am not sure of the answer but why was German so strong amongst your students, that really surprised me!

  2. What a very good question! I had to ask my colleagues to get the answer to your question. Around the 1800s or even earlier there was a big migration of German immigrants that settled in states such as Pennsylvannia, New York and the Mid Western states. Many moved here for political and religious freedom, greater economic opportunities or simply to make a fresh new start. According to research German American make up 17% of the U.S. population. Most students are a mixture of cultures and German ancestry was most common among them all.

Thank you for asking that question because I learned something new today!

Hope you are enjoying your summer holiday and we look forward to blogging with your new class soon.
