New Zealand Non Fiction Expert Projects

Over the past month the class have been putting together a non fiction book about New Zealand. The students learned about landforms, school, climate, native birds, symbols to sports in New Zealand.

After that the students chose what sections they would like to include in their books. The students wrote each section using information from Ms. Lologa, books, and the internet.

It was a long process but the students managed to complete their books. They all did such a fabulous job and have worked very very hard on these books. To share what they have written, the class have chosen their 'best section' that they will read.

Please watch the videos and leave us a comment.

We would love to know what your thoughts are on our writing!

We showed your videos to three students and myself in the classroom in New Zealand this morning before school. Our class is going to be visiting and leaving comments today. Our favourite fact about the Kea for our students was that it is the only parrot that lives in the snow. Meredith we liked the facts about the mountains and yes there are much more mountains in the South Island than the North Island. We are in the North Island - we do have some volcanoes but not that many, theres only one in the North Island and it dosen't really erupt very much.

Our students were very excited that a school on the other side of the world would be learning about New Zealand. We also liked seeing the picture of New Zealand in the background on your classrooom wall and your title page with the students with the rock. Mr Webb explained to us about your teacher. We will be back later today.

  12. Hi im Owen from melvile intermediate New Zealand and I am going to share some facts about the kea you didnt know. The kea is a very mischivous bird and it has been known to destroy vecihles and steal food. Once I had one snatching a muffin out of my hand and fly off with it! They have a very large diet they eat: fruit, animal carcasass`, rodents and food that d.o.c rangers give them. they will kill and eat sick or injured sheep. Also they will bite humans ether for fun or to protect themselves because the keepers at our local zoo say to keep our fingers away from their aviry
