The Council Has Spoken....

Over the last 3 weeks the class have been exploring global trends and issues that impact on our community.  We decided to look deeper into our own community to find out what these issues are and whether it is becoming a trend globally.

The class put together a survey for our parents to complete.  We had a great response from the parents which fired up lots of great discussions within our class.

The graph highlighted that traffic seemed to be the most popular issue among those who were surveyed.

People mentioned that:

  • Roads are too busy therefore it takes time for parents to get home/Congestion
  • Roads were lagging behind due to the rapid growth in buildings, neighborhoods, shopping centers.
  • Speeding cars
  • Roads are small and narrow
After reviewing the issues each group had a chance to show how communities could work together to help lessen the traffic problems.  Some groups presented their work through a short skit, or wrote down an action plan that they could present to the Mayor or local council.

The following video is of one groups presentation:

Do you find traffic an issue in your community? If not,  what are some of the issues affecting your community?
